What Turkish Day In London Organisors have to say:

Dear Turkish Day in London community,
As you may be aware, Turkish Day in London was postponed in response to the mining accident in Soma, Turkey. Our thoughts remain with the family, friends and colleagues of those who have lost their lives.
Thank you for the incredible amount of support and positive messages you have shared with us over the last few days. We were very touched by your understanding about our postponement of Turkish Day in London.
We are pleased to announce that Turkish Day in London will be on Sunday 1st of June 2014 at Trafalgar Square. We are also pleased to say that all performers, exhibitors and activities remain unchanged. Please share the new date and posters with your friends, family and colleagues. We hope that everyone can get together and enjoy the day!

“Turkish day in London is a unique event inspired by the Turkish community living here in the United Kingdom. Our event offers a full day packed full of activities and features that deliver the best and most accessible way to enjoy a Turkish cultural experience outside of Turkey.

From live performances by leading Turkish artists and musicians to recreations of Turkeys greatest landmarks, visitors can enjoy a complimenting mixture of modernity and tradition in a quintessentially British location with a distinctly Turkish atmosphere.’

This year, UK & Turkey Events set out to organise “Turkish Day In London” in Trafalgar Square, exposing Turkish culture to the masses with an event that was to be the first of its kind in the United Kingdom and on a massive scale.

Our vision was to exhibit the diverse colours and vibrancy of the Turkish community in London whilst engaging with Londoners.”

Some people on the London Photo Walk Page wanted to do a photo walk around Tower Bridge in order to see the bridge rise and close…. so here’s a walk to meet a lot of people’s taste. From Street Photography to Architecture to Botonics.

The walk will start from St Pauls Station from 2pm, and will end Trinity Square Gardens at around 4pm onwards. Some people want to do some photography of Tower Bridge opening and closing, and this walk will provide the ideal opportunity to do just that.

The final meeting point is the Slug and Lettuce (http://www.slugandlettuce.co.uk/slug-towerbridge/) is located at Unit 1 Tower Bridge House, St. Katharine Docks, East Smithfield, Tower Bridge, London, E1W 1AA. I will update the map as soon as I can to reflect the end meeting point.

ROUTE MAP LINK http://goo.gl/FvMkmZ

9.30am Meeting point in front of The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square. Don’t be shy, meet & get to know fellow members, take photos while we assemble to set off at 10.00am sharp ( after Group photo on the steps :) ) We go through Admiralty Arch then down the Mall. If were lucky a sea of Daffodils may be in bloom the stems are up already. We will be taking in St James Park, watch out for the pigeon eating pelican ( good viewpoint of Buckingham Palace & Duck Island from the Blue Bridge across the lake ).Opportunity to catch birds in flight at eye level here. Then Horse Guards Parade and Parliament Square. After passing Big Ben, look for Boudiccan Rebellion statue and head down along Victoria Embankment past the Battle of Britain Memorial . Pass through the Gardens past the Ancient Tree ( I’d love to see how our top photographers tackle this). Finally we cross the Golden Jubilee Bridge with views up the Thames and finish at The Classic Car Boot Sale at the Southbank Centre adjacent to Jubilee Gardens.
There is a St Patrick’s Day festival at Trafalgar Square between 12.00-14.00 for those not going to Classic Car Boot Sale, just complete the loop on the map at the Golden jubilee Bridge.

The route is about 50 min walk so feel free to walk off-piste, there is plenty of time for photographing many iconic scenes along the way. There is no end time to this walk so you can arrive at the destination at your own pace. If you feel you are running late simply take the shorter route over Westminster Bridge.

The Boot Sale opens at 12.00pm ( £4.00 ENTRY FEE ), expect to queue but once inside its worth it.
There is plenty of choice for food and drink, If the Big double decker Bus Pub is open I’ll see you there. :)
You can enjoy the experience for as long as you like. There are many photo opportunities inside too.
For those that like to dress up 40′s and 50′s style you wont look out of place.
I hope that many will participate and post photos of thier Classic London Photo Walk day out.

Feel free to wear your London Photo Walk Lens/wrist band so the group is easily identifiable,

We are getting into the seasonal spirit by having the next Photo Walk at the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

There are a few rules we have to abide by as per last year.

Photography and filming on site is allowed for personal use only
Do not take cameras onto the ice rink
Do not take pictures or film the children
Do not block pathways with tripods otherwise security will ask you to move on

Meeting Place: Entrance Gates at Hyde Park corner 2.00pm PROMPT.
Pub Finish Point: NORDIC BAR (F11) at 4.00pm

Please try to be there promptly as we have to hand out Hyde Park ‘group photographers,’ wristbands.
And finally we have the London Photo Walk wristbands. Yes dear photographers you will now be branded! The LPW wristbands are £1 each to cover the cost of making them. As you know LPW doesn’t make any profit to cover for these. The bands are optional however they will help with security in future walks.

We’ll be meeting at the Nikon School just at the top of Regent street and making our way down. If anyone has any tips on photographing Christmas lights, please share.
